Legendary former Inter Milan striker Alessandro Altobelli feels that current Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez is one of the best strikers in Europe.
Speaking to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, Altobelli praised the current Inter captain.
Striker Lautaro Martinez is currently in his seventh season with Inter.
The Argentine joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2018.
And with virtually each season that he’s been at the club, Martinez has grown in importance.
Martinez has been Inter’s top scorer in each of the past three seasons. And despite a very slow start to the current campaign, Martinez is now very much on track to do so again.
Meanwhile, Martinez was the top scorer for all of Serie A last season. He led Inter to the Serie A title.
And moreover, Martinez brings far more to Inter than just his goals. He is also the player who really sets the tone for how the team play with his defensive workrate and linkup play.
And Martinez has also worn the captain’s armband for Inter since the summer of 2023. That is when he inherited it from Samir Handanovic.
Lautaro Martinez has won the Serie A title twice, the Coppa Italia twice, and the Supercoppa Italiana on three occasions with Inter.
And the Argentine has also started for the Nerazzurri in the Champions League and Europa League finals.
Legendary former Inter striker Altobelli said that Lautaro Martinez “is among the best strikers in Europe.”
“He plays well with the team. He always arrives at the right place in the right time in front of goal.”

“Maybe he wastes a few too many chances,” Altobelli then said of Martinez.
“I’d advise him to just be sincere when he’s in the penalty area.”
Altobelli said that “I imagined the penalty area as a place where no one could touch me.”
“That gave me maximum peace of mind.”
The legendary former Inter striker argued that Martinez “can work on that in training and grow even more.”
Meanwhile, Altobelli said that Inter captain Simone Inzaghi “has surprised me.”
“When he coached Lazio, the perception was that he was good. But I thought he wasn’t yet ready for the pressure in Milan.”
“But I was wrong,” said Altobelli of Inzaghi. “He makes everyone perform at 100%.”
