Simone Inzaghi feels that Inter Milan started well against Monza in their Serie A draw, but needed to make it count with a goal.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after the 1-1 draw.

Inter had to settle for a point in their return to Serie A from the international break.

It could have been worse for the Nerazzurri. Substitute Dany Mota actually put the hosts ahead in the second half.

However, Inter reacted to at least salvage a point.

Wingback Denzel Dumfries finished after some sharp approach play by Joaquin Correa and Carlos Augusto.

This means that Inter were unable to capitalize on a draw from Juventus earlier in the weekend.

And it also sees the Nerazzurri fall a point behind Napoli in the Serie A table after four matches played.

Simone Inzaghi: “Inter Started Well Vs Monza, Needed A Goal”

“I think that in the first half we got off to a good start,” since Inter coach Inzaghi.

“We had to be better at taking advantage of it and going ahead. Because Monza defended well.”

“We had two chances from Lautaro and Dimarco, and then the match could have probably went our way,” Inzaghi argued.

“We were a bit sloppy technically,” Inzaghi added.

“And then we conceded a great goal from Dany Mota.”

“I’ll take this draw,” said the Inter coach. “We’re disappointed because we wanted to win, but let’s move forward and keep working.”

Inzaghi also spoke about midfielder Piotr Zielinski. The Polish international made his first Serie A appearance for Inter this evening.

“He’s a player we know well. We wanted to sign him.”

“He’s a guy who’s fit in very well here, and who wants to help us to achieve our goals,” Inzaghi said of Zielinski.

And of upcoming matches against Manchester City and AC MIlan, Inzaghi said that “We knew what the fixture list had in store.”

“We knew the Champions League was returning,” the Inter coach added. “Now we have to work to get back in the best condition.”
