The Red Devils have seemingly been ruled out of the Jaden Philogene transfer race

Hull City's Jaden Philogene is a wanted man this summer amid widespread interest across the Premier League and overseas and Manchester United have been linked, but it's unlikely that he'll be heading to Old Trafford anytime soon.

This is according to HullLive's Tigers correspondent Barry Cooper, who revealed in a recent report that those involved in crunch talks surrounding the winger's immediate future at the MKM Stadium have played down any rumours linking him to the Red Devils.

Philogene's performances have captured the attention of various Premier League clubs during the off-season, with the 22-year-old understood to be keen on a top-flight transfer in the coming weeks following a terrific individual campaign in East Yorkshire.

The England under-21's winger, who signed from Aston Villa on deadline day last summer, weighed in with 12 goals and six assists last term as Hull narrowly missed out on a prized play-off spot, establishing himself among the Championship's leading attackers in the process.

Although Philogene would've represented a different recruitment to what United are typically used to deploying in the transfer market, Cooper's report may still come as something of a surprise given their dearth of wide options.

Jadon Sancho will likely leave the red side of Manchester this summer - at least if Erik ten Hag gets his way - whereas Marcus Rashford and Antony have both seen their respective stocks fall considerably over the last twelve months or so.

It's also a blow for Hull, who are primed to lose Philogene either way this summer but would've likely collected a more substantial fee from United than anyone else owing to their financial muscle.

The focus appears to be on selling Philogene at the right price instead of holding out hope that he'll stick around for another year under Tim Walter, and even though a potential figure wasn't mooted from United, they would've been able to fork out more for Philogene than everyone else still in the race.

Crystal Palace and Everton are both believed to have a genuine interest in Philogene. However, Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town are currently leading the way amid a potential double-deal for the attacker and Hull's highly-rated central defender Jacob Greaves.

Once again, though, HullLive have suggested that external reports are wide of the mark as it had been initially reported that Ipswich were looking to land the duo for £30m, but the outlet now claims the Tigers will be looking for a significantly higher fee if they are to let their two chief assets move on to Portman Road ahead of 2024/25.

Philogene has some big decisions to make and plenty of options on the table, but Crystal Palace may be the most enticing of them all.

There is an obvious blueprint at Selhurst Park for highly-technical EFL prodigies to excel at a higher-level, as both Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise demonstrate.

But with Olise now set to join German giants Bayern Munich following a sensational season of his own, there's every chance that Oliver Glasner could be looking to immediately integrate Philogene into the Premier League week-in, week-out, and he should keep that firmly in his thinking.

Naturally, it all depends on how much the Eagles are willing to cough up, but they will have money to spend when Olise's impending departure officially goes through and that could see their interest heighten sooner rather than later.
