The future of Mohamed Salah is a continuing saga which needs to meet an end as soon as possible.

Liverpool fans are becoming increasingly worried that the Egyptian King will leave the Reds in the summer following the conclusion of his current contract.

There have been calls for Salah to receive a new deal with the forward being an obvious fan favourite and legend.

But one pundit has said that if Salah does leave, then this current Premier League star would be the perfect replacement.

Why Bryan Mbeumo has been tipped to sign for Liverpool

Bryan Mbeumo has been a breath of fresh air for Brentford. Having joined the Bees in 2019, he has scored 25 league goals and is always a major threat in the attacking line.

And with Salah’s future in doubt, talkSPORT host Tony Cascarino thinks the Cameroonian international is someone Liverpool should consider.

Speaking to Brentford fan and co-host Natalie Sawyer, the former Chelsea striker (and lifelong Liverpool fan) said: “I remember saying to you about if Mo Salah left, Mbeumo would be the one I would have gone after. He's got so much about him, he’s got goals, he’s got durability. He's just a nuisance every time he plays.”

It’s clear that Cascarino rates the Brentford forward highly. Mbeumo does possess similar attributes to Salah in terms of attacking intent, pace and skilfulness on the ball.

It has also been reported that Brentford have put a £50 million price tag on him, which may deflect the Reds interest having already purchased Federico Chiesa for £10 million this summer.

But the number 19 is keeping his options open. Speaking to L’Equipe last year, he stated that he wants to “play in the biggest competitions, in the best clubs. It's still enticing to see some big teams interested in me. We'll see."

With comments like that, if Liverpool were to sniff at his asking price, he may be tempted to join Arne Slot’s men.
