Brighton & Hove Albion’s interim head coach Mikey Harris has called on his side to bring their good away form back to Broadfield Stadium.

The Seagulls are winless in six games at home, yet they are unbeaten in five matches on the road.

Aston Villa provide the latest opposition at Broadfield Stadium this weekend and Brighton’s interim boss Harris wants his side to try to replicate the form shown in their away games.

“From our perspective as staff and players, there’s a huge responsibility on us to deal with that [home form] and improve that area of our season,” Harris said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “We have shown some excellent form in recent weeks away from home and we want to take that to Crawley.

“One of the things that we have spoken about this week is the importance of ending our home season on a high because that gives us momentum and belief going into next year.”

Brighton & Hove Albion could leapfrog Aston Villa into seventh place with a win. If the Sussex club stick to their principles and footballing philosophy, Harris believes that they can break into the top half of the table in future seasons.

He said “I don’t think we are far away [from being a top half team]. We are still early in the journey of the development in the way that we want to play.

“Teams like Tottenham and Manchester City who have a clear identity, stick to their principles and look to get better within that, you can see what they can achieve over a long period of time.

“My belief is that we are in a good place with some good foundations and clearly, you’d want to recruit the best players that you possibly can. I’m really confident that we could break into that top half. We have the facilities, the infrastructure and people to do it, so let’s see how far we can go.”

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Aston Villa is scheduled to kick-off at 1pm on Saturday afternoon. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
