At this moment in time with Hugo Ekitike being the only arrival in Liverpool's forward line, the club is looking short of options.

Even with the emergence of Rio Ngumoha, Slot needs at least one more attacker.

Obviously, this is why Hughes is working on a deadline day deal to sign Alexander Isak. But will Liverpool have enough time? Can they actually pull it off?

All of that is up in the air right now. We just don't quite know whether it's possible. Whether there will be enough time for the deal to be completed.

What is very clear is that they have put their eggs in one basket. And that is the Isak basket.

Liverpool certainly had other options, especially at the start of the window. But they want to Swedish forward, more than anyone else.

This has been a long mission. Michael Edwards had wanted Isak at Liverpool back in 2016. Had the data team at the club had their way, Liverpool would have signed the Swedish forward rather than Darwin Nunez back in 2022.

So, it's now or never for Liverpool and the Reds have made their position very clear on the matter, rejecting any other offers for forwards who are on the market.

Including a giant forward who is very much in demand.
