Newcastle United are, for the first time, ready to sell Alexander Isak to Liverpool.

On the eve of the final day of the summer transfer window, the club's majority stakeholders, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, have reportedly decided they will sell Isak if the Premier League champions pay their asking price.

In what is being viewed as a public message to Liverpool to show their hand, Newcastle have reportedly confirmed they are ready to listen to offers.

The Telegraph report that Newcastle want £130million for who many consider the best striker in the Premier League.

Liverpool saw a first bid worth £110m rejected more than four weeks ago and have not returned with an increased offer since.

The club initially suggested they would not bid again but, as Monday's transfer deadline approached, reports emerged that a second offer was brewing and would be worth between £120-130m.

The report claims that Newcastle are ready to listen to Liverpool's next move having given the champions encouragement that a deal is possible.

Frustratingly for Newcastle fans is that the report also states that Newcastle are ready to sell without having signed a much-desired second new striker.

Newcastle completed the £69m club record signing of Nick Woltemade last week and have been pursuing both Yoane Wissa and Jorgen Strand Larsen, but both Brentford and Wolves have refused to sell.
