Officials at Manchester City are reportedly ‘keen’ to extend the contract of one of their brightest attacking prospects developing in their Academy system at present.

It is widely anticipated to be an important summer market for several of Manchester City’s rising talents from within their Academy system, as club’s look to not only prepare their youth teams for the next challenges in their career, but also plot for the future at senior level.

The City Football Group and aforementioned Premier League champions are often extremely proactive in the youth market, and the ongoing summer transfer window is appearing to be no different to those of the past.

Manchester City have already moved fast to beat Premier League rivals to the signing of highly-rated Chelsea starlet Ryan McAidoo, who is expected to be part of the club’s under-18 squad for the upcoming season.

But their latest approach sees the club aim to tie down one of their next up and coming attacking prospects to a new deal, which could see him operate alongside the aforementioned McAidoo during the upcoming campaign.

According to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are currently working to get new contract finalised for highly-rated attacking talent Christian Dunbar-McDonald.

It is explained that negotiations are underway over a new deal with the Premier League champions keen on keeping the 16-year-old, whilst The Secret Scout reports that City are ‘confident’ in retaining the player they scouted and signed from Reading at under-14 level.

Manchester City have already seen a number of their more ‘senior’ level Academy graduates leave the club on high-profile moves this summer, earning Etihad bosses high-level transfer sums to reinvest elsewhere into the operation.

Southampton confirmed the signing of Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Manchester City earlier this week in a deal understood to have been reached at £20 million, with the Premier League champions retaining various favourable clauses for the future.

Elsewhere and Lewis Fiorini has also brought an end to his 15-year association with the Etihad Stadium side having left on a permanent deal to join Stockport County, with the League One side sanctioning an initial £300,000 fee that could rise to £1 million.
