Lamine Yamal has created a lot of buzz in the ongoing Euro 2024, thanks to his exceptional performances.

The young forward notably became the youngest player to register an assist in the history of the competition. He was also the youngest player to start in a game.

Although the assist against Croatia was Yamal’s only contribution in Euros so far, his on-field impact has been far greater.

A key highlight of Spain’s attack, in fact, has been the bond between Yamal and Nico Williams, both of who have terrorised opposition defences with their speed and trickery on the flanks.

Spain: Only team to win all three games

As the group stage of Euro 2024 comes to a conclusion, Spain are the only team to have won all their matches in the competition so far.

La Roja started the campaign with a resounding 3-0 victory over Croatia, with Lamine Yamal grabbing an assist.

It was followed by a narrow win over Italy before Spain sealed group stages with a 1-0 victory over Albania. Yamal was not involved much in the third game, as coach Luis de la Fuente opted to provide the attacker a breather.

The road ahead

With Spain all set to take on Georgia in the Round of 16, one would expect Lamine Yamal to continue playing a crucial role for La Roja in the final third.

Yamal’s synergy with Nico on the flanks could go a long way in testing the Georgia backline, which did concede four goals in three matches in the group stage.

Apart from Yamal, Pedri, too, could play a crucial role for Spain as they look to continue their march in Euros.
