Guadalajara has now completed its schedule of warm-up matches ahead of the 2025 Apertura, and it did so on the right foot, beating Leones Negros 0-5 at the Jalisco Stadium. Obviously, the result and performance were good for Gabriel Milito's team, but there were other things that also stood out, both collectively and individually.
One of the highlights of the clash between the Rebaño and the Melenudos was the participation of Efraín Álvarez. Even with only a few minutes on the pitch, the talented Guadalajara striker made his presence felt with a couple of moves that had a direct impact on the scoreboard. For this reason, below we provide a general breakdown of his first minutes with the Rojiblanca.
Álvarez entered the field in the 78th minute, replacing Erick Gutiérrez. He positioned himself as an attacking midfielder and moved to the left wing, where he dropped back a few meters and helped build Chivas' play. It should be remembered that 'Efra' can play as a winger and also, as he did yesterday, in a midfield role that moves across the field.
He had just over 12 minutes to show what he could do, and of course he didn't miss the opportunity to score a goal and provide an assist. In the 85th minute, he appeared on the left wing, looked up and spotted Armando González unmarked, so he played a through ball that left 'Hormiga' alone in front of the goalkeeper and made it 0-4.
Two minutes later, the Rebaño Sagrado's number 10 once again found himself in the same position and received the ball with an advantage, so without thinking twice, he unleashed a huge long-range shot that nestled in the corner of the university goal. That's how Efraín Álvarez ended the night, wearing the Rojiblanca jersey for the first time and giving a warning that his left foot could be the talk of the 2025 Apertura.
