AC Milan star Theo Hernandez and Inter defender Denzel Dumfries have very publically gone at it before, and the Dutchman has revealed a little more this afternoon.
When Inter face Milan, the game is the big talk, of course. However, we always see mini-rivalries form. Certain players may go in stronger on others, or react more when another does something, and this makes the game better to watch.
After all, derbies are about passion, and when it boils over a little, it is not the worst thing ever.
One of the biggest examples of this in recent times has been Dumfries and Hernandez, who have always risked something in the games, and seeing the pair get a little more angsty to the other is nothing new.
Whilst Theo has stayed quite quiet, Dumfries has regularly spoken about the relationship that the duo do not have and speaking to Serie A today, via Calciomercato.com, the right-back discussed the situation again.
“Obviously on the pitch, we don’t like each other very much, I can’t say that we are friends outside because that would be a lie. But we have a mutual respect: in the game we each fight for our colours, we also clashed at the European Championships but that’s part of the game.
“Off the field, we don’t have any problems, but on the field, we only think about winning: there are many clashes, but it’s a natural thing in football. I can’t say we like each other, that’s for sure.”
