Koch and Germany beat Greece in their final friendly before EURO 2024, Matanovic scored for Croatia U21s and Golden Boy nominee Larsson was in action for Sweden against Serbia.

Eintracht defender Robin Koch will be at UEFA EURO 2024 – this news was confirmed by the German Football Association (DFB) ahead of the friendly against Greece, which Die Mannschaft won 2-1. Koch did not feature in Mönchengladbach.

Albania are also involved in the European Championship in Germany and played a final friendly against Azerbaijan on Saturday, winning 3-1. Eintracht goalkeeper Simon Simoni had been part of Albania’s provisional squad but the 19-year-old hasn’t made it into the final list.

At the Gradski Stadion Sajmište in Vrbovec, Igor Matanovic and the Croatian U21 team came up against their counterparts from Republic of Ireland. The Irish were already 3-0 up after 52 minutes, before Matanovic reduced the deficit in the 62nd minute. The 21-year-old striker is back at Eintracht after spending the 2023/24 season on loan at Karlsruher SC. Croatia managed to pull back another goal but the friendly finished 3-2.

Larsson shortlisted for Golden Boy

Sweden were also in friendly action against EURO participants Serbia at the Friends Arena in Solna. The visitors, whose team included former Eagles Filip Kostic and Luka Jovic, ran out 3-0 winners. Hugo Larsson, who was nominated for the 2024 Golden Boy award during the week, came on at half-time but couldn’t prevent the defeat.
