Bologna are having another excellent season having qualified for the Champions League last time out, and Riccardo Orsolini is a big part of that.
Orsolini is the star of an extraordinary campaign with Bologna, as the winger has racked up 13 goals and three assists across all competitions this season, including five goals in his last seven games in Serie A.
As Diario AS (via MilanNews) highlights, Orsolini is enjoying his best season in Serie A while his club fights for a place in the Champions League and have virtually secured a place in the final of the Coppa Italia.
Being left out of the national team after such a brilliant season is a tough situation for Orsolini He last wore the Azzurri shirt last summer, when he was included in the pre-call-up for the European Championship, only to be rejected from the final squad.
Coach Luciano Spalletti’s decision to adopt a 3-5-2 formation has limited the opportunities for a player of his profile. With 32 goals in the last three seasons, Orsolini is Italy’s top scorer in Serie A, but that doesn’t seem to be enough to guarantee him a call-up.

With clubs such as Napoli and Milan interested in the player, there is expected to be a rush to secure his services in the summer transfer window. Joining a more high profile club might get him the attention he needs to get a more prominent place in the national team.
Earlier today, it was reported that the Rossoneri are both looking for a new right winger to replace Samuel Chukwueze and aiming to build an Italian nucleus. Orsolini ticks both boxes in this sense.
