Jermain Defoe has shared his views on the future of Eberechi Eze, expressing his belief that the England international would be an ideal signing for Tottenham Hotspur, despite reports linking the player strongly with Arsenal.
Among the two major North London clubs, Arsenal appear to be the most interested in securing the signature of the Crystal Palace midfielder. Reports suggest that Eze himself is open to a move to the Emirates, which has only intensified speculation about a possible transfer before the window closes.
However, with the market still open, Tottenham are also expected to remain active. The club has already made several additions this summer and is reportedly preparing further bids to reinforce its squad. Whether or not Eze is among their targets remains unclear, but the opportunity to sign a player of his quality would undoubtedly appeal to a number of Premier League clubs.
Arsenal are said to be confident that Eze would thrive in their setup and see him as a player capable of enhancing their attacking options. The Gunners are believed to be monitoring his availability closely and could make a move before the deadline if the opportunity arises.
Eze’s creative flair and ability to unlock defences make him an attractive option for top-level sides. His performances for Crystal Palace have drawn widespread admiration, and his technical attributes align with the style of football employed by both Arsenal and Tottenham.

Former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe believes his old club should be pursuing Eze. As cited by Metro Sport, Defoe stated, “Eze is someone who, if this makes sense, is a Tottenham player. He’s someone that plays with freedom. You look at the great players over the years that the club have had and technically how good he is, how confident he is, he’s another special footballer. If that can happen then, of course, it’s only good for the team because, obviously, when you get these injuries, especially long-term injuries, you need to replace these players.”
Eze continues to be a standout talent in the Premier League, and it is no surprise that Defoe is keen to see him in a Spurs shirt. Whether Tottenham will act on this suggestion remains to be seen, but with Arsenal reportedly leading the race, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining the midfielder’s next destination.
