Alessandro Costacurta joked about the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Giorgio Furlani at AC Milan’s win over Genoa.
Milan got the job done last night at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, scoring twice inside two minutes to complete a second-half comeback and make it three wins on the spin. Geoffrey Moncada was there to watch and he did the media duties, but the absence of two key figures was notable.
The CEO Furlani and the Senior Advisor Ibrahimovic were not at the Marassi due to previously-arranged commitments, of which no further information has emerged. Even Bologna director Giovanni Sartori was there, most likely to scout their opponents in two crucial upcoming games.
Costacurta criticised the absence of the two leaders as a pundit on Sky, making a comparison with the legendary Adriano Galliani. His comments were related by Calciomercato.com.
“Times have probably changed but I don’t think Galliani has ever lost a match. It’s an anomaly. Maybe they are out looking for a sporting director…” he said.
On Rafael Leao’s foul to earn a yellow card and a suspension, he added: “That foul by Leao seemed a bit deliberate to me: Milan can save themselves in the league with Bologna who have two big objectives ahead of them, considering what was said at the start of the season.”

On the substitutions, Costacurta continued: “Leao since he came on, Joao Felix and Gimenez himself: the substitutions have worked very well and this in my opinion is good news. I think this is the 39th goal in 35 games conceded by Milan.
“If I count the goals from crosses from the left-centre of Milan, I think it would be half. There is always someone free on the cross: goals from opposing attackers who are not marked.
“Inattention and little habit of marking inside the area: you only look at who crosses and not who can receive it. It seems that they work little on individual tactics, in marking inside the area.”
