Samuele Ricci has renewed his contract with Torino, but a report has outlined why it will not put AC Milan off in their mission to sign him.
The news broke yesterday that Ricci had extended his deal from 2026 to 2028 with Torino, but Calciomercato.com insist he remains ‘at the centre of Milan’s thoughts’. The Rossoneri are looking for a new central midfielder and they believe the Italian ticks a lot of boxes.
At the moment it is just a preference without any concrete move from the management, though a few weeks ago there were talks with the player’s agent, even if it didn’t go into a great deal of detail.
The player is aware of Milan’s interest, and signing the extension was a gesture of recognition towards the Granata and the president Urbano Cairo.
The parties also established a gentleman’s agreement – only verbal, with nothing in writing – whereby Torino will let him leave for offers of €25m or above.
Milan are not the only club that are monitoring developments related to the future of Ricci. The midfielder – who was previously at Empoli – is also popular abroad, specifically in England.
Some Premier League clubs have had the player followed by their scouts since last season, and while there have been no direct contacts yet but Ricci could become a hot name for the January market.
