Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram is unlikely to even be on the bench in tomorrow’s Supercoppa Italiana semifinal against AC Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Thuram picked up an injury during Inter’s Supercoppa Italiana semifinal against Atalanta.
The Frenchman started that match. And he played out the entire first half.
However, Thuram had to come off at halftime. This was due to discomfort in his left thigh.
And subsequent medical tests confirmed that Thuram has suffered a “slight elongation” of the adductor muscles in his left leg.
Thuram’s injury is not a very serious one. He should be back quite soon.
But the timeline would be very tight for Thuram to rush back for the Supercoppa final.
Inter face city rivals AC Milan in the final tomorrow.
One thing that’s completely certain is that Thuram will not start against the Rossoneri.
However, there could be a faint hope of the 27-year-old at least being in the squad, starting the match on the bench.
According to the Gazzetta, though, that’s nothing more than a slight hope.
Thuram will likely have to sit tomorrow’s match out entirely.
