Sam Kerr’s hat-trick held off a late challenge from Liverpool, who nearly got back into the game after goals from Ceri Holland and Gemma Bonner.

It appeared that one young fan wanted to get in on the action, attempting to crawl under the hoardings to get onto the pitch.

The moment happened in the 13 minute of the match, when the ball had gone out for a Chelsea throw-in.

As Jess Carter walked over to collect it, the ball rolled under a gate in the hoardings, and into the stands.

The ball was handed over to Carter, but shortly after, a small child appeared under the gate and tried to crawl after the ball onto the pitch. It was an unsuccessful mission, however, with an adult pulling the child back.

How have fans reacted to the video?

The video has gone down well with football fans on Twitter, with the clip now viewed nearly 20,000 times.

A number of commenters have joked that the child is a new signing for Chelsea, with one writing: “Could be our new striker”.

Another posted: “This might be the best moment of the season”, while another wrote: “I was not expecting that 🤣🤣🤣🤣”.

What happened in the Women’s FA Cup fourth round?

Arsenal progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with their 9-0 victory against Leeds, which saw goals from new signings Victoria Pelova and Kathrine Kühl.

Everton were knocked out by Championship side Birmingham following a 1-0 loss, while there were big wins for Tottenham and Manchester City, who beat London City Lionesses 5-0 and Sheffield United 7-0 respectively.
