Veiga’s stock has risen considerably since his £12 million move from Basel, but he could be on the move just six months later.

Veiga hasn’t nailed down a spot in Enzo Maresca’s first team, but he has played plenty of football this season.

The versatile Portuguese defender has featured 18 times across all competitions for Chelsea, returning two goals and an assist.

Veiga has been deployed as a left-back, centre-back, and defensive midfielder, but he’s primarily considered an understudy for Marc Cucurella.

His ability to play in multiple positions played a huge role in his high-profile move to Chelsea last summer.

However, he has opened up about his desire to ply his trade as a centre-back moving forward and is keen to get his wish by any means necessary.

Veiga earned his first call-up to the Portuguese national team after a series of impressive performances for the Blues.

He excelled at centre-back, and it is believed that his desire for more playing time in that position is tied to his hopes of representing his country at the 2026 World Cup.

Chelsea rate Veiga highly, and Maresca is a huge fan of the youngster.

The player has reportedly asked for a six-month loan as he doesn’t want to leave Chelsea permanently, but the Blues are not interested in a temporary deal.

Chelsea have informed Dortmund that Veiga will be allowed to leave if they received a bid of around £20m.

The Bundesliga giants aren’t willing to match Chelsea’s asking price and have instead submitted a loan bid with an option to buy.

They’ve also offered to cover the player’s full salary, but Chelsea are unlikely to shift their stance, considering Veiga is on a long-term contract.
