Chelsea are open to letting defender Wesley Fofana leave Stamford Bridge this summer according to reports in France.

The Blues are bracing themselves for another busy window and could look to fund their business by selling as many as seven or eight first team players.

Chelsea are facing a critical window with the club looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker to improve Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Chelsea open to letting Fofana leave

The Blues are looking to strengthen at the back and have been strongly linked with Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen, whilst they are also said to be keen on Marc Guehi.

To make room for any centre backs the Blues will need to make sales in that department, with Axel Disasi and Trevoh Chalobah candidates to leave.

However, it’s believed someone who supporters might not expect to leave could well be on the move on this summer.

French journalist Sébastien Vidal has shared an update on Fofana’s future and claims Chelsea would be open to letting him leave.

He took to X.com and said:

“According to my information, Chelsea are open to Wesley Fofana leaving this summer. Mutual interest between the player and OM, but qualification for the Champions League will be essential to move forward with a possible loan. In the event of a dry transfer, only Saudi Arabia seems capable of keeping up financially.

Marseille a possible destination

Fofana openly admitted he received an approach from Marseille last summer, but with his continued injury issues this season the Blues could be tempted to cut their losses.

The 24-year-old missed the entire of last season with an ACL injury, whilst he has done better this season, making 14 appearances in all competitions.

Fofana will miss the rest of the season with injury after getting injured in the build up to the Tottenham game last month.

Despite Maresca stating he’s in love with the Frenchman it seems Chelsea could have a big decision to make this summer.
