BVB were in control of the game from the first whistle, and created several good chances. In the 10th minute, Dana Marquardt had the first big chance for the Borussians after a nice through ball from Paula Reimann. However, Marquardt was stopped by the Schalke keeper. Annika Enderle's first goal was disallowed due to a foul (17). After a good 30 minutes, Marquardt made an impressive pass with her heel to Nora Willeke. However, the Schalke goalie was able to block Willeke's shot from the penalty area. Just under ten minutes later, Hannah Geldschläger passed to Enderle, who got her knee to the ball to score BVB's celebrated first goal, meaning they went into half-time 1-0 up.
In the second half, BVB missed the opportunity to score again early. Their opponents hit the crossbar in the 72nd minute, and Enderle hit the post just one minute later on the other side of the pitch. After hitting the woodwork, the Dortmunders kept pushing for another goal. Seven minutes before the final whistle, it was Enderle again who put the ball in the net to make the final score 2-0. BVB are Westfalenpokal champions!
As a result of their success in the Westfalenpokal, BVB have qualified for the first round of the DFB Cup in the coming season.
