Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Belgian left-back Maxim de Cuyper on a five-year deal, keeping him at the club until June 2030.
The 24-year-old arrives from Club Brugge in a deal believed to be worth around £17.5 million (€20 million), with further bonuses potentially included.
De Cuyper enjoyed an impressive 2024/25 campaign, helping Brugge reach the Last 16 of the Champions League while narrowly missing out on the league title, finishing just three points behind Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. He also played a key role in their Belgian Cup triumph the previous season.
A regular for his club, he made 54 appearances last term, scoring four goals and providing seven assists.
On the international stage, De Cuyper made his senior debut for Belgium in June 2024 and has already picked up 10 caps, finding the net three times.
He becomes Brighton’s second defensive signing this week, following the arrival of French defender Olivier Boscagli from PSV on a free.
