A quite stunning Eddie Howe stat has been highlighted by BBC Sport, only Pep Guardiola doing better.

Newcastle United becoming the ‘Entertainers’ once again, following the departure of Steve Bruce.

United have won 27 Premier League matches by a margin of three goals or more under Eddie Howe.

Only Pep Guardiola and Manchester City achieving this more times since Eddie Howe arrived at St James’ Park, Man City on 38 occasions winning by three or more in the Premier League from late November 2021.

These are the 27 Premier League occasions, so far, when Newcastle United have recorded three goals or better winning margins under Eddie Howe:

This is all quite astonishing and especially so when taking into account the shambles that Eddie Howe inherited, thanks to Steve Bruce and Mike Ashley.

These 27 Eddie Howe wins by three of more goals in terms of winning margin, have come about in 137 Premier League matches. So basically one in every five PL games on average, Newcastle United win by at least three goals under the NUFC boss.

Indeed, if you take it from October 2022 onwards, in a two years and seven months period, there have been three goals or better winning margins in 26 of 103 Premier League matches under Eddie Howe, marginally better on average than once every four PL games.

To put this into perspective, in 84 Premier League matches under Steve Bruce, there were only two games where Newcastle won by a three goal (or better) margin.

They actually happened only ten days apart…

A 3-0 home win over Sheffield United on 21 June 2020, then 1 July 2020 a 4-1 win at Bournemouth.

Yes, quite bizarrely, one of Brucey’s two NUFC matches where his team won by three or more goals, was against a Bournemouth team led by…Eddie Howe!

Getting back to what has happened under Eddie Howe at Newcastle United though, I think a number of fans do need to remind themselves of just how extraordinary the job is, that the genius has performed at NUFC.
