Real Madrid have made the strengthening of their full-back positions a top priority for the summer transfer window of 2025.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been identified as the priority target for the right-back position and there is strong optimism that a deal for the Liverpool man could be closed as early as next month.
As for the left-back position, Bayern Munich speedster Alphonso Davies, who will become a free agent in the summer, just like Alexander-Arnold, has been identified as the primary target.
As reported earlier this week, Real Madrid had agreed personal terms with Davies’ camp in the early parts of this year itself, irrespective of when he would arrive – in the summer of 2024 or 2025.
Having been prized out of a move for him last summer due to Bayern Munich’s demands, the Merengues were optimistic about signing the Canadian for free next year.

Indeed, as his contract is set to expire in 2025, his future seemed to point towards Real Madrid, but new factors have emerged: the threat of Premier League clubs and improved contract renewal offers from Bayern.
In fact, journalist Rodra (h/t RM4Arab), Bayern Munich are now optimistic about potentially renewing Davies’ contract and extending his stay at the Allianz Arena beyond the summer of 2025.
Nothing concrete has been set in motion as of yet but the Bavarians have made significant progress in renewal talks with their ace left-back, and hopes of convincing him to stay have risen.
As for Real Madrid, they continue to view the Canadian as their top target for the left-back position, although they have been less active in pursuing the player in recent months to avoid getting dragged into what they perceive a bidding war.
Nevertheless, despite knowing how challenging this transfer will be, the Merengues remain hopeful that Davies will ultimately join them.
