Barcelona set a date for Spotify Camp Nou return | OneFootball

While the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys has been a good foster home for Barcelona this season, it is clear that players and fans are desperately waiting for the return of Spotify Camp Nou.

The historic stadium has been under renovation from 1st June 2023 when the work officially began, thus forcing the team to play away from home for the entirety of the season.

The initial plan was to reopen the gates of the stadium by November 29th 2024, coinciding with the club’s 125th anniversary. That date, however, has now been slightly extended.

Reopening date announced

As revealed by Mundo Deportivo in a recent report, Barcelona have decided not to hurry the return and hasten work to match the poetic date.

Instead, they will open the gates of the new Camp Nou on the 15th of December this year and have asked La Liga to schedule the team’s first game at the venue around that date.

The work at the stadium is progressing well, and no further delays are expected in its reopening.

As it stands, the aforementioned date will see the stadium open to 60% capacity, meaning that 63,000 of the 105,000 seats at the venue will be available.

Prices to fluctuate

The report furthers that the club administration will meet on April 25 to discuss a critical issue – the pricing of tickets and season passes.

After all, Barcelona will play half of next season at Montjuic before making the move to Spotify Camp Nou, leaving administrators in a dilemma of how to price tickets for the same.

While it is possible that the cost will be slightly increased to justify the experience in a new stadium, it is not ruled out that the hike be postponed until the venue opens to full capacity.
