Arsenal continue their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

The Gunners take on the Spanish side on home soil after returning from their pre-season tour of Asia. There could be home debuts for the club’s raft of summer signings, including Viktor Gyokeres after his cameo against Tottenham Hotspur last time out.

That defeat to Spurs ended a positive pre-season campaign to date and Mikel Arteta will be keen for his side to returning to winning ways.

Viktor Gyokeres featured for just 13 minutes off the bench against Tottenham and will be keen to increase his time on the pitch tonight. The Swedish striker has arrived to solve Arsenal’s centre-forward issues, after 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting Lisbon.

Noni Madueke could make his first appearance for Arsenal. The winger was given extended time off after featuring for former club Chelsea at the Club World Cup this summer. His availability is timely with Leandro Trossard having picked up an issue against Spurs.

Gabriel Jesus remains out due to an ACL injury, while Gabriel, Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori form part of a depleted defensive unit.
