Charlize McFadyen, signing for Celtic FC Women
18-year-old McFadyen, who plays as a midfielder, made six appearances for QP last season, who got relegated from the top flight after only managing to secure 12 points. She sadly picked up an injury which saw her sidelined for some time, but her new side liked what they saw enough to secure her signature for the upcoming season.
She made her debut for QP during their game against Spartans, which they managed to claim three points for after a 1-0 victory. She would go on to make her first start in senior football against a top-level opponent, Glasgow City.
Joining Queen’s Park from Celtic FC Women, she said: “I really enjoyed being here last season, so it was a very simple decision to return. My aim is to get back to the levels I was at before my injury, and kick start the new season with a great group of people.
“Despite being on the sidelines, everyone made me feel such a big part of the team, and I’m determined to repay them with my performances on the pitch.”

There is no doubt that McFadyen will be a player who we may live to regret moving on, as she has performed well enough in the academy to have already picked up some club awards. Last year, she won the U18s Player of the Year for Celtic, and has made an impact at previous clubs she has featured for.
It will be interesting to see how she will fare with Queen’s Park in the SWPL2, especially with the format changes.
As for Celtic, the club have only made one signing, bringing Lisa Robertson back to the club a year after her transfer to Hearts. Robertson signed a two-year contract a year after being deemed surplus to requirements.
Everyone will be looking forward to seeing how the player will fare after her year away from Elena Sadiku’s team, and hopefully, some pre-season games will be announced soon that will let us see the team in action.

As for new signings, Lisa Robertson is the one and only player in the door so far. With the Celtic FC Women manager returning to the club’s pre-season this week after her time working for Swedish television at the Women’s Euros, we can only hope that there are more coming in to replace the TEN players who have left the club this summer after a truly awful campaign last season where Celtic only just managed to secure FOURTH spot in the SWPL1.
