Amanda Nildén: “The Club has grown a lot over the last few years” | OneFootball

Amanda Nildén believes she has already developed in her short time in N17 so far and is excited for the Club’s progression.

The attack-minded defender has joined us on a permanent deal from Juventus, following a six-month loan spell in Lilywhite during the 2023/24 campaign, and has signed a contract that will run until 2027.

Amanda was straight into the action after completing a loan move from the Serie A giants in January as she started in 10 consecutive games in the Barclays Women’s Super League, helping us finish inside the top six for just the second time in our history.

“I’m really happy,” Amanda told us after putting pen to paper on a permanent move to Hotspur Way. “I have enjoyed my time here on loan and I’m now looking forward to the future.

“It’s a Club that has grown a lot over the last few years, they are aiming for the top of the league and, I think, this year we have grown a lot.”

Alongside making 10 WSL appearances, she also featured in all four of our Women’s FA Cup games as we reached the final of the competition for the very first time, while playing two games in our FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup journey.

Having beaten Manchester City in the quarter-final of the FA Cup and picking up our first point away at Manchester United, two games in which the Sweden international played an important role in, she highlighted the Club’s ability to now go head-to-head with the best teams in the country.

“It was a long season, we played some important games like the FA Cup Final which was very important for the Club and also for me, in my personal career, so I think with that result, and other results in the league, we have shown that we can compete with the best teams so that’s why it’s so fun to sign now to see what next season can bring.”

Reflecting on her personal development over the last six months: “I played a lot, played all the games I have been able to, and just by game time I think I have grown a lot. I just feel after every game that I’m taking steps, I feel more comfortable and get more confident. I’m very excited to see what I can build from here and the type of football really suits me, I’m happy to be here.”

Although the start of the WSL season is still over two months away, pre-season is just around the corner and Amanda is excited to reunite with the squad and staff.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the team again, have a good start to pre-season and get ready for the games and, hopefully, we can perform even better than this season and continue to take steps as a Club.”
