Napoli are making significant strides in their pursuit of Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.
The 20-year-old Argentine has emerged as a prime target for the Serie A giants in the current winter transfer window.
The Naples-based club has reportedly tabled an offer of €50 million, but United are holding out for a figure closer to £60 million (€70 million).
Due to the constraints of Financial Fair Play, United are eager to maximise profits from Garnacho.
Napoli could increase their offer to €60 million, though they remain firm on not exceeding this valuation.
Garnacho, who has shown glimpses of brilliance despite limited playing time this season, is reportedly intrigued by the move.
Garnacho has emerged as a fan-favourite ever since he became a regular in the first team. He does have the X-factor to create something out of nothing.
However, his lack of technical prowess hinders him from putting in consistent performances week in and week out.
Corriere dello Sport claim that the Argentine has already had a conversation with Napoli manager Antonio Conte.
Talks between Napoli sporting director Mauro Manna and United are expected to intensify, with meetings scheduled within the next 48 hours
Their interest is not without competition.
Chelsea have also expressed a desire to sign Garnacho but are hampered by the need to offload players before making significant acquisitions.
Should Napoli fail to land the United star, they have identified Bologna’s Dan Ndoye, 24, and Lazio’s Mattia Zaccagni, 29, as potential alternatives. Zaccagni, however, has publicly stated his preference to remain in Rome.
