Brentford Women fought hard to claim a 4-2 win against Actonians Reserves in the London South East Division One North on Sunday at Gunnersbury Park.

Despite a great start from Karleigh Osbourne's side, the team found themselves 2-1 down for most of the first half. A goal on the stroke of half-time from Chloe Logie gave Brentford the platform to secure the victory in the second period.

Brentford Women went into their first away game of the season looking to replicate the blistering start against Leatherhead last season.

Ashley Cheatley gave the team the lead almost instantly, keeping composed to finish well after being played through on goal.

It was one-way traffic as Osbourne’s side were pushing for more goals.

A goalmouth scramble saw the home side clear Kirsty Matthews’ shot off the line whilst Samantha Read could not divert the rebound on target.

Against the run of play though, the home side equalised as they pounced on a loose ball in midfield and played Natasha Cree through on goal. The striker rounded the keeper and slotted into the net.

Matthews had another effort cleared off the line, this time a header from a corner. The home side took the lead through number Shadia Edwards-Dashti who found space on the edge of the box.

Nikki Woods hit the crossbar with a free-kick from distance as the away side continued to push for an equaliser.

Chloe Logie with her first real chance of the game unleashed a fierce shot from just inside the box, on the stroke of half time to draw the team level.

Cheatley got her second of the game, reacting sharpest to a parried shot from the keeper to tap into the net.

The win was secured by Matthews who struck a powerful shot from distance that at first seemed to be saved well by the goalkeeper but she failed to fully keep the shot out of the goal as it was adjudged to have crossed the line before the clearance.

That was how the game would end as Brentford Women secured all three points.
