Frank issues injury update on Ajer, Henry and Jensen | OneFootball

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has revealed that Kristoffer Ajer is available for the Bees' clash with Manchester City on Saturday - but midfielder Mathias Jensen will miss the visit to the Etihad Stadium.

As for Rico Henry, Frank stated that he has suffered a "minor setback" in his recovery from injury and will not feature this weekend either.

On players returning from the international break, the Bees boss said: "The last one was Ethan Pinnock who arrived this morning, but pretty much everyone is all good and we're ready to start the show again!

"Ajer trained today and trained Tuesday - he is available for Saturday.

"[Jensen] got a calf injury so will be out for the weekend. He'll be out for a couple of weeks."

Frank added: "Rico Henry will not be available, unfortunately. He's still on track but got a minor, minor, minor muscle injury, that's why he didn't play in the behind-closed-doors friendly last week, but we expect him to be on the pitch tomorrow.

"Yes, it's a setback but it's not really a setback because it's nothing to with his knee.

"Gustavo Nunes is a player I believe can help us soon - he is nearly ready. He's got a minor stress fracture in the back but it's not a big issue. He will not be able to be on the bench for a few weeks."

On the game itself, Frank was full of praise for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola and Erling Haaland.

"They are the best in the world," he said. "They are very, very good. We need to be good at defending, obviously, press high when we can, really neutralise their key players - they have many so it's difficult - and then we need to be brave on the ball and keep it in phases."

Asked how he is planning on stopping Haaland, the Bees boss stated: "It's close to impossible! A lot of teams have tried to neutralise him but he's a great player.

"I think his movements in the box are some of the best we've ever seen: the way he anticipates the situation, the way he times the movements, he's constantly focused, no matter where the ball is - it's top level."

On Guardiola, he added: "For me, it's not only that he is one of the best coaches ever, he is also very innovative. It's not like you can expect the same system - next time, he might play a full-back as a striker!

"He's always thinking and is trying to be one move ahead of the rest of us. That's what I need to try to prepare for! But we are ready for the challenge."
