It was every bit the relieving win for our Champions League campaign we desperately wanted to see. Our Red Bulls showed their maturity in an intimidating atmosphere in Rotterdam on Wednesday evening to take three extremely important points for the table.
After a night's sleep, the 3-1 win feels just as special and should give us courage for the challenges ahead. We are only at the halfway stage of the league phase of the UEFA Champions League after four matches - and we are just two points behind the top 24, who will make the knockout stages.
A silver UEFA ball for the Player of the Match went to Karim Konate after his brilliant brace - his first pair of strikes in a European match. The 20-year-old has even been nominated for the UEFA Team of the Week. You can vote for Karim until 15:00 CET here:
The win was not just down to our centre-forward, but numerous strong performances from our Red Bulls. Whether that be the tireless Lucas Gourna-Douath in the middle of the park or the creative genius of Oscar Gloukh, who registered two assists on the wing – our team were a really strong collective.
We now want to put in that kind of performance one more time this Sunday (10 November) as we face FC Blau-Weiß Linz in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga at 14:30 CET, before we get the chance for a little rest in the international break. Our boys' next UEFA Champions League clash is away from home too, with a fan special train allowing you to accompany the team from Salzburg straight to Leverkusen. All the Info!
