Manchester United’s proud tradition of producing young talents only continues to shine with the likes of Ethan Wheatley and Toby Collyer making their first team debuts lately.

Not all youngsters are ready to take the step into the first team right away, however, and a loan spell away from the club can be vital for the player’s development.

As usual, United have numerous academy players on loan across Europe and the star of the weekend was surely Joe Hugill, who scored two goals for his Wigan Athletic side to make it three strikes in his last two games.

Jadon Sancho, who is on loan at Premier League rivals Chelsea, also made quite the impression on his debut, providing an excellent assist for Christopher Nkunku to fire home their winner against Bournemouth.

Young goalkeeper Radek Vitek was also impressive as he kept a clean sheet for Austrian side BW Linz.

He made three stops from inside the box and now has two clean sheets from his opening three games for his new team.

Fellow academy shot stopper Elyh Harrison also impressed, keeping another clean sheet for his new side Chester as they beat Hebburn Town 3-0 in the second round of FA Cup qualifying.

It is now three clean sheets from four games for the impressive 18 year old.

Youth Cup winning centre back Rhys Bennett played 71 minutes for Fleetwood Town in a 3-2 away win to Carlisle United, making two interceptions and one clearance in the match.

After a poor loan for Stockport County last season where he barely featured, he will be hoping to gain significantly more gametime for his new team.

James Nolan played 82 minutes of Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s 2-2 draw with Alloa Athletic, picking up a yellow card in the 78th minute of action.

Finally keeper Tom Myles started for Runcorn in their 2-0 home loss against Trafford.

Sonny Aljofree was not in Accrington and Stanley’s matchday squad and there was no place in the starting line up for Tom Wooster for Farsley Celtic.
