Zinedine Zidane has warned Real Madrid not to underestimate Barcelona in the first El Clásico of the season on Saturday.

The LaLiga giants meet having had indifferent starts to the season, with both losing their previous game last weekend.

Real followed the shock home defeat to Cádiz with a surprising 3-2 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The attention has now turned to Zidane’s job security which has shed some of the focus from Barcelona, who were deemed the crisis club over the summer.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the trip to the Camp Nou, Zidane sent a message to his players not to take the Catalans lightly.

“Barcelona have always been strong, competitive and know how to play very nice football.

“They can always make things difficult for you. I know that we’re going to have a difficult game tomorrow and that’s good for us.

“It’s the best way to turn the situation around because it’s the match we’ve got tomorrow and it’s a good match to turn things around and change the situation.

“We want to put in a good performance.

“It’s a different Clasico, but it’s still a Clasico and it’s always special.”

Real could return to the top of LaLiga with a win.
