Samed Bazdar’s time at Real Zaragoza appears to be drawing to a close as discontent over his role at the club has spilled out publicly. After a stretch in which his playing time dwindled considerably, Bazdar took to Instagram this week with a post that left little ambiguity about his feelings, sharing the message: “No eres tú el que no tiene valor. Quizá estás en el lugar equivocado”—“You are not the one lacking value. Maybe you are in the wrong place.”
The forward’s situation has steadily deteriorated across the latter part of the campaign. Once considered one of Zaragoza’s most significant investments in recent seasons, Bazdar’s prominence has faded significantly under manager Gabi Fernández. The turning point seems to have come after he was withdrawn at half-time during Zaragoza’s heavy defeat to Levante, and a costly miss in front of goal against Racing de Ferrol marked his last notable contribution for the side. Following that, his appearances were sporadic at best: benched for matches against Real Oviedo and Cartagena, before returning only for a late cameo appearance against Deportivo in stoppage time at La Romareda.
Sources close to the player suggest the forward has struggled with the lack of opportunities and the shift in his role at the club. Where Bazdar was once a player trusted to influence matches, the second half of the campaign saw him marginalised, which has evidently impacted both his confidence and his sentiment towards his future in Aragón.
Bazdar’s recent social media post was accompanied by an image of three bottles of water, each priced differently depending on the setting, reinforcing his message about value being a matter of context rather than inherent ability. The intention behind the post has not been officially clarified, but for many, the takeaway is plain: Bazdar sees himself as undervalued at Zaragoza and is now contemplating an exit.
The situation comes at a time when Zaragoza are undergoing a wider review of both their playing and organisational structure following another difficult season. With new leadership set to take charge off the pitch and Gabi Fernández already flagging the need for a comprehensive rebuild, decisions on players like Bazdar will likely be among the first major tests for the incoming sporting director.
Whether Bazdar gets his wish for a summer move, or whether the club makes a concerted effort to rehabilitate his status, remains to be seen. What is clear is that, for now, one of Zaragoza’s most high-profile recent arrivals no longer sees his future at La Romareda.
