Yan Diomandé has just switched leagues. The Ivorian winger leaves CD Leganés to join RB Leipzig on a contract running until June 2030.

Here are five things you need to know about Leipzig’s latest signing, a player tipped for a bright future.

Born in Abidjan, Yan Diomandé is only 18 years old. The left winger is set to embark on a new adventure in the Bundesliga. He will wear number 49 with his new German league side.

Before joining Leganés in Spain in January 2025, he played for the Yulee Hornets and DME Academy in the United States.

Last season, he featured in 10 La Liga matches, scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist (542 minutes played).

He is a Côte d’Ivoire U23 international and could soon boost the senior Elephants squad, provided he continues to impress at club level.

He ranks among the top 10 U20 transfers in Bundesliga history: €20 million. He is also the first Ivorian ever to play for RB Leipzig.
