Florian Plettenberg reports that RB Leipzig are set to sign 18-year-old Ivorian winger Yan Diomande. This pending transfer remains unrelated to the Bundesliga outfit’s pursuit Belgian winger Johan Bakayoko. Leipzig hope to bring the CD Leganés professional in as a developmental prospect.

Diomande only just made his professional debut for his La Liga club last January. The Cote d’Ivoire U23 international nevertheless made an immediate impact for the Los pepineros, scoring two goals and registering an assist in 10 league appearances.

Leganés’ relegation from the Spanish top flight renders the youngster a candidate for sale. Plettenberg notes that Diomande and Leipzig have agreed to terms, yet offers no information on the transfer fee. Diomande maintains a €1.5m estimated market value.

It’s been a busy 24 hours in the RB front office. After confirming the sensational sale of longtime club man Yussuf Poulsen late yesterday, the German Red Bulls also wrapped up a fresh loan agreement for Aston Villa prospect Kosta Nedeljkovic early today.

Should the Bakayoko and Diomande deals be confirmed soon, it’s fair to say that Marcel Schäfer and the RB administrative team are firmly up-and-running after what has been a very sluggish start to the summer.
