Speaking to Téléfoot this morning, new Lyon recruit Xherdan Shaqiri discussed his objectives with Les Gones, insisting on his desire to replicate the club’s success at the start of the century.

The Swiss international also previewed OL’s crucial fixture tonight, as they travel to the Parc des Princes to take on the league leaders in Paris Saint-Germain.

“I want to help this club return to its former glory with my experience, and my level of play. The goal is to bring OL back to where it was ten years ago. It’s time to take this club back to where it deserves to be.”

“We’re excited [about facing PSG] because we want to take on the best. We’re not scared, we’re going there with confidence having analysed PSG, and we’ll see what happens.”

“Messi is an incredible player, maybe the best of all time, he’s always been my idol. I’m happy to be playing against him. PSG also have their issues – we’ll make the most of their weaknesses and believe in getting a result.”
