Xavi sends warning message to Barcelona supporters | OneFootball

Former Barcelona head coach Xavi has forwarded something of a message of caution to the club’s supporters this week.

As much comes amid the suggestion that those of a Barca persuasion would be best served remaining realistic when it comes to their side’s targets over the years ahead.

It has of course proven a summer of change in Catalunya’s capital, with the headline move having seen the aforementioned Xavi moved on, to be replaced by Hansi Flick.

Beyond as much, Deco and co. are working tirelessly behind the scenes to add fresh talent to the club’s playing squad, whilst balancing what has long been a delicate financial situation.

Not only that, but a return to the rejuvenated Spotify Camp Nou is imminent.

And yet, amid an exciting period of transition for Barcelona, the Catalans remain, by some distance, behind arch rivals Real Madrid, as well as the rest of the continent’s leading clubs.

Speaking as part of his appearance on the recently-released Netflix documentary, Xavi was therefore quick to call for patience across the club’s fanbase:

“People have to understand that Barça may need to be less competitive for a while, and build little by little.”
