Despite their weak financial position, FC Barcelona are planning to bring in some new players in the upcoming summer transfer window to strengthen their squad for the next season.

The top-most priority of the Catalan club is to bring in a midfield pivot, while a forward is also high on the agenda. Furthermore, as per SPORT, Xavi also wants two interior midfielders to boost his midfield options for the next season and be able to fight for all the possible titles.

Firstly, there is the Manchester City midfielder, Bernardo Silva, who has already been linked with the Catalan club for years now. Xavi had already talked to him last year, and the player himself is very open to the idea of donning the Barcelona colors, but the Blaugranes will have to pay his €58 million release clause to get him.

Xavi admires the Portuguese international, particularly for his high quality and understanding of the game. Furthermore, Silva’s ability to play in several midfield and offensive positions will significantly enhance Barcelona’s attacking game. At 29 years old, Silva still has several years ahead of him to continue playing at the highest level.

The second player that Xavi would like for this role is the La Masia graduate, Xavi Simons, who is currently playing on loan with RB Leipzig but is owned by Paris Saint Germain as he joined the French club when he finished his time as a Cadet at Barcelona. The Blaugrana trainer is impressed by the youngster’s quality and his ability to imbalance games.

The Dutchman himself is also keen for a move to the Catalan club, but he is currently valued at €80 million and has a contract till 2027 with the French club. This summer, PSG will decide whether to keep him in their squad or allow him to leave once again and thus, he can join Barcelona on loan this summer.

Although relations between Barcelona and PSG have improved recently, the history between the two clubs can still make a move complicated. However, Simons recently appointed Darren Dein as his agent, who was also key in the Catalan club’s sponsorship agreement with Spotify, and thus this agent can help him get to his boyhood club.
