The situation surrounding coach Xavi Hernandez is in a state of flux, as he faces an exit but has yet to receive a formal decision from the board.

The main cause of dissatisfaction with Xavi has been his brutally honest statements about Barcelona’s financial predicament, which has not sat right with the club’s hierarchy.

Now, steps are being taken to ensure the two parties can understand each other’s stance and find a resolution.

Xavi being urged to leave gracefully

Xavi and his staff spent over four hours at the Ciutat Esportiva, visited by club representatives Rafa Yuste and Alejandro Echevarria, Laporta’s former brother-in-law.

Now, according to AS, Echevarria is at the meeting to address the crisis, which could lead to a serious split if mishandled.

Xavi is disturbed by the controversy going on and confused by the recent uproar. He is also perplexed by the media chatter regarding his future.

As of now, Laporta’s ex-brother-in-law has advised Xavi to wait a few days for things to calm down before recommending that an arrangement be reached over his exit to prevent more issues.

Furthermore, an exchange between Laporta and Xavi already took place in which it was decided that a meeting would take place in a few days.

With Laporta choosing to postpone his meeting with Xavi, the priority at this point is figuring out the most advantageous approach to letting go of the coach.

Reportedly, club management would rather see resignations than firings, especially considering the financial implications.

The cost of firing Xavi could weigh heavily

Sacking Xavi could not only worsen relations but also force the club to incur a cost of €20 million.

This explains why Bareclona’s board members are attempting to smooth things out with Xavi and convince him to get on the same page instead of being left in the dark and receiving the axe out of the blue.
