An insight into the plans of incoming Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso for Aurélien Tchouaméni has this week been forthcoming online.

This comes amid confirmation that Alonso envisions Tchouaméni playing chiefly as a midfielder over the seasons ahead.

The France international has of course spent the last couple of seasons shifting back and forth between the middle of the park and central defence, owing to a series of injury problems in Real Madrid’s backline.

Despite giving his all when forced into an unfamiliar berth at the back, Tchouaméni was never shy in making clear his preference for playing in his more natural role at the base of midfield.

The former AS Monaco standout, in turn, will be encouraged by the early word stemming from the media regarding Xabi Alonso’s plans for his talents.
