According to an update from AS, Real Madrid have made their stance clear that Fran Garcia is untouchable under Xabi Alonso and is not for sale.

As reported in the past, despite multiple offers arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, the club has firmly rejected them all, with Alonso seeing the left-back as a non-transferable piece of his future project.

Real Madrid’s approach to the 2025/26 season seems to include three left-backs in the squad.

While that may appear excessive at first glance, the market has offered no signs of departures.

Alonso trusts Garcia

It is said that offers for Garcia came in early during the transfer window, but Alonso views the former academy product as a perfect fit for his tactical setup.

As a result, the club backed their manager’s vision and dismissed all interest in the defender.

Garcia’s impressive performances last season have done his case no harm, as the 25-year-old featured in 54 matches, accumulating 3,500 minutes across all competitions.

Despite Ferland Mendy’s ongoing injury concerns, Garcia stepped up when it mattered most and delivered consistent displays.

Stellar performance at CWC

His contributions during Real Madrid’s victorious Club World Cup campaign were especially significant.

He started every match and was one of the standout performers throughout the tournament, barring the semi-final against PSG, which saw early mistakes from Raul Asensio and Antonio Rudiger cost the team.

Under Alonso, the expectations from full-backs are different. He demands width, energy, and smart positioning, qualities Garcia offers in abundance. His style suits Alonso’s system better than the more defensive-minded Mendy.

Additionally, new signing Alvaro Carreras is also set to play a big role next season, giving Real Madrid a blend of experience and youth on the left flank.
