Jude Bellingham to take Real Madrid teammate’s position upon return from injury

An insight into the plans of Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso for Jude Bellingham upon his injury return has this weekend been provided.

The info comes courtesy of Diario AS, and points towards the Englishman preparing to take over the role currently occupied by Arda Güler in Los Blancos’ XI.

Youngster Güler is for his part fresh off another starring display on Saturday night.

Afforded the freedom of an attack-minded midfield role in new boss Alonso’s line-up, the Turk responded with a stellar individual showing, notching a goal and seeing another disallowed.

This carried forth what has been a hugely impressive opening to the term on Güler’s part.

As alluded to above, though, this looks unlikely to stop teammate Jude Bellingham from taking over the role of chief attacking midfielder upon his return from injury.

As per a report from AS:

‘Bellingham’s entry into the team will force competition between Güler and Mastantuono, either to maintain this (current) formation or to integrate the Turk, if he wins, into a sort of 4-4-2 diamond formation in which he would be a typical midfielder.’
