Here’s what went down.

Scorers: Castellanos 28′; Hanson 31′

Some sharper finishing could’ve seen either of these two WSL sides take the points on Saturday lunchtime.

Man City were off the mark in just under half an hour when Bunny Shaw took her time to release a perfectly weighted pass for Deyna Castellano to score her first WSL goal with a cool finish.

Those celebrations were short lived though, as some excellent movement around the box from Aston Villa allowed Rachel Daly to put in a looping cross, for Kirsty Hanson to poke home with her second attempt.

Both teams had plenty of chances in the first 45 minutes and in the second half it was wayward finishing that cost both sides, with Man City only registering four shots on target from 14 and Villa only managing two from 11.

The home side wanted a penalty in the dying minutes as the ball struck Rachel Corsie’s arm, but the referee waved the shouts away.
