Viktor Gyökeres has barely spent a week with the Arsenal first team but is already making a strong impression, with backroom staff reportedly ‘blown away’ by his performances in training.

Arsenal’s pursuit of the Swedish striker was long and complex, but after navigating a challenging negotiation process, the Gunners secured their man. The deal was officially confirmed just over a week ago, on Saturday, 26th July.

Since then, Gyökeres, who scored 97 goals across two seasons for Sporting, has had only a handful of sessions with the squad. Nonetheless, he made his non-competitive debut in Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to Tottenham in Hong Kong. Despite limited time, early signs suggest Arsenal may have landed a serious talent.

Coaches impressed by physical condition and mindset

According to an exclusive report by TBR Football, Arsenal staff have been hugely impressed by the 27-year-old’s condition and readiness.

Chief correspondent Graeme Bailey revealed: “One word, ‘wow’ – that is the response I have had from inside the Arsenal camp when I asked about Gyökeres.

“Although he has just turned up, I am told that he could play tomorrow if the Premier League started – he is ready.

“Gyökeres made it clear through the process that he is ready, and my word, he has blown coaches and teammates away already. Arsenal are not getting carried away, but his professionalism is shining through already. Arsenal really do think they have landed a good one.”

Encouraging signs as the new season approaches.

From Portugal to The Prem

The Sweden international was a revelation in Portugal, but fans remain cautiously optimistic as he makes the leap to Premier League level. His physical readiness, however, will come as welcome news, especially given that he did not feature in early pre-season due to his dispute with Sporting. His last competitive match was in May.

With just under two weeks to go before the season opener, Arsenal will hope Gyökeres is match-ready to lead the line in what promises to be a demanding campaign.

What do you think, Gooners? Are you excited by what you’ve seen so far?
