Arsenal to pursue signature for Juventus man
Arsenal are believed to return to the negotiating table with Italian giants Juventus In their bid to land Arthur Melo, it has been reported.
The Brazilian was well in the thoughts of the Gunners hierarchy who were determined to land him in the winter transfer window.
However, complicated terms placed by the Old Lady pushed any possible deal to a dead end.
According to journalist Giacomo Iacobellis, the Gunners will come back strongly for the former Barcelona man and are willing to offer better terms to their Italian counterparts.
He further tweeted that Juventus would also like to include Arsenal defender Gabriel in their talks, which hints at a possible swap deal.
Central midfield is one of the positions that definitely needs strengthening, especially when Arsenal have qualified for Europe.
Youri Tielemans is the one name that has strongly been linked to a move to the Emirates Stadium. But with Arsenal looking likely to finish out of a Champions League spot, the deal for the Belgian might be jeopardized.
Melo might be a simpler deal to get over the line, given his willingness to switch Turin for London for more regular playing time.
The 25-year-old has made 63 appearances for Juventus while also recording 22 caps for the Brazilian national team.
There is no doubt regarding his talent. But the real question mark is around his consistency, which has been a hot topic, ever since he was with Barcelona.
It’s still to be seen whether Mikel Arteta will push for the Brazilian’s signature. Although he’s a very technical player, I think the club would be served better elsewhere.
