Marcos Acũna has returned to Argentina after finalising a move from Sevilla to River Plate.

The 32-year-old Qatar World Cup winner previously played in the Liga Profesional with Racing Club from 2014 to 2017 and now swaps blue for red in his home country.

Acũna made 149 appearances in LaLiga for Sevilla and registered six goals and 16 assists helping the club ultimately lift the Europa League in 2022/23.

In between his initial spell in Argentina’s top flight and his time in Spain, the left-back made 135 appearances for Sporting in Portugal.

Acũna was also a member of Argentina’s Copa América winning squads from 2021 and 2024. This past summer he featured in the wins over Canada in Chile.
