Some of Brazil‘s football in their emphatic 4-1 victory over South Korea on Monday evening was quite simply breathtaking.

The South American nation were nowhere near their formidable best in the 2022 World Cup group stage and even suffered a rare defeat to Cameroon – albeit with a second-string XI.

But in their last-16 match against South Korea, Brazil were an absolute joy to watch.

Neymar‘s penalty was as ice-cold as it gets, while Richarlison finished off one of the best team goals seen on the World Cup stage in the 21st century.

And as usual with Brazil, fans of the beautiful game were treated to some snippets of garish skill throughout the match.

Arguably the best of the bunch came from Vinicius Junior, who opened the scoring on the night with a delicate finish from Raphinha’s pull back.

At the start of the second half when Brazil were 4-0 up and cruising, the Real Madrid flyer decided to go full Joga Bonito.

When the ball was pinged out towards him by the touchline, Vinicius nonchalantly flicked the ball over South Korea’s Jae-sung Lee like he was playing football down the local park.

Check out the moment of magic from a Ballon d’Or winner in the making…

Stop that, Vinicius! You can’t be making Joga Bonito look that goddamn easy on the World Cup stage.

Vinicius is a key cog in one of the most awesome attacking machines ever assembled at international level.

A front four of him, Neymar, Raphinha and Richarlison just doesn’t seem fair on the rest of the teams, does it?

And then you have the likes of Antony, Rodrygo Goes and Gabriel Martinelli waiting in the wings. Yeah, no wonder Brazil are the favourites to lift the Jules Rimet trophy on December 18th, which would be the first time they’ve done so in 20 years.

Who will Brazil face in the quarter-finals?

So, for the umpteenth time in their rich footballing history, Brazil are through to the quarter-finals, where they will play Croatia – who defeated Japan in a penalty shootout earlier on Monday.

If the Selecao manage to see off the European nation, a semi-final date with either Argentina or Holland awaits them.

A match against one of those two would be treat for the eyes, although it would even spicier against the former.

Lionel Messi and Neymar in two immensely talented sides battling it out for a place in the World Cup final? That right there is the stuff of dreams.

Quiz: Can you name all 30 of these ‘streets won’t forget’ players from World Cups?
