Porto and Iran striker Mehdi Taremi has already undergone medicals ahead of a free transfer to Inter Milan this summer.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews. The outlet also report that Taremi’s brother was recently in Milan ahead of the striker’s move.
It is not exactly a secret that Taremi will be joining Inter this summer.
The 31-year-old was already a target for the Nerazzurri since at least last summer.
Inter had balked at a high asking price from Taremi’s club Porto. Therefore, they signed Marko Arnautovic from Bologna instead.
However, Inter’s interest in signing Taremi never diminished.
And the Nerazzurri were very much aware of the Iranian international’s contract situation.
Taremi’s deal with Porto runs out at the end of June of this year.
Therefore, Taremi is available on a free transfer in just a couple of months when his contract expires.
And Inter are certainly a club with a penchant for signing players on free transfer.
That is the route via which Marcus Thuram, Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Andre Onana among others came to the Nerazzurri.
And Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski will also be joining Inter this summer when his contract with the Partenopei expires.
And Inter took advantage of the opportunity to sign Taremi without a transfer fee.
The Nerazzurri laid the groundwork for the move earlier this season.
And then in January, Taremi made his decision. The Iranian came to an agreement with Inter on a summer transfer.
Reports indicated that Taremi was going to undergo medicals in Milan in February.
However, the high-profile nature of these moves caused this plan to be scrapped, for reasons of discretion and respect for the player’s current club Porto.
But according to FCIN, Taremi has in fact already undergone medicals.
There will be more medical tests this summer in Milan, before Taremi actually signs his contract with Inter.
But the wheels are already very much in motion. It is only a matter of time before Taremi becomes an Inter player.
Meanwhile, FCIN also report that Taremi’s brother was recently in Milan.
This visit took place a couple of weeks ago. The purpose of the visit was to attend to some details regarding Taremi’s move to Inter, as well as to the city of Milan.
